If you’ve tried everything for acne, from pimple creams to changing your diet, it’s time for a zit zapper. These thermal acne clearing devices work by applying a burst of intense heat to the pimple, killing the bacteria that cause the inflammation and bringing quick relief.

If you want to buy a zit zapper, you’ll get the best prices if you shop online. There’s no sales tax, and many sellers offer free shipping. These devices are expensive, but they’re effective on most types of pimples.

A pimple zapper is technology’s answer to the stubborn problem of acne, which afflicts adults as well as teenagers. Pimples can make even the most self-confident person feel shy and ill at ease, perhaps because the blemishes occur in such a highly visible area: the face. Girls and women are especially prone to feeling self-conscious because society places such a high premium on beauty. Magazines and other media are loaded with images of models and screen stars with perfect unblemished skin. What they fail to mention is that these images are often airbrushed or otherwise enhanced. The truth is, even models get pimples.

Teenagers have an especially hard time with acne because during adolescence they are still discovering their identity. There’s a lot of peer pressure and intense scrutiny from others. A teenager can feel that others are constantly judging them, even when the judgment is largely a figment of their imagination.

Blemishes can be very frustrating to get rid of. Over-the-counter medications provide mixed results, and pharmaceuticals can have side effects. In some respects, women have an easier time than men at hiding pimples because it’s socially acceptable for females in our society to wear makeup. However, girls often spend hours carefully camouflaging a zit that probably isn’t as bad as they think. When all else fails, some people simply hide themselves at home, instead of using cosmetics to hide the pimple. Acne can be a socially debilitating condition with serious consequences.

There are two leading brands of thermal acne devices. The Zeno is a bit more expensive than the Thermaclear. Both of them are about the size of a cell phone. Most users report that it doesn’t hurt a bit to zap zits with one of these devices. Treatment takes anywhere from 10 seconds to about a minute. Keep in mind that it will be necessary to replace the cartridges in your zit zapper on a regular basis, which adds to the expense.

Despite the cost, users report a high degree of satisfaction with Thermaclear and Zeno. When all is said and done, acne-free skin is priceless.

Surveys of teenagers report that over 70 percent of them suffer from negative effects on their lives as a result of acne.

Acne affects an estimated 20 million teens, yet each of them wonders if he or she is the only person with the problem. This is because adolescence is a time of uncertainty and low confidence. Even without the effects of skin problems, most teens are still developing the self-esteem they will need to become happy, mentally healthy adults. Acne can make a teenager reclusive and depressed.

Teenage girls have an especially hard time. The teenage years are when boys and girls first become interested in each other, and the effects of acne blemishes on a young girl’s face can be excruciatingly embarrassing. While society shows her nonstop images of female and perfection and beauty, she sees nothing but imperfection every time she looks in the mirror.

A parent should be supportive and sympathetic to a teenager. Girls need to hear that they have positive qualities and that their parents love them. This creates self-esteem that will last a lifetime. If a teen suffers from pimples, then the parents owe it to her to find the right acne treatment, even if means seeing a medical professional.

Good parenting means educating yourself about the causes of acne. There are many myths about pimples that science has now proven aren’t true. Greasy foods and chocolate are no longer believed to play a large role. Cleanliness isn’t a major cause of pimples either. While proper skin cleansing is important, this is rarely a problem for beauty-obsessed teenage girls.

The facts are not as simple as the myths. Teenagers get pimples because their hormones work extreme changes on the oil glands in their skin. The surge of sex hormones called androgens make these glands secrete more oil. When the oil mixes with the normal cycle of skin cell death and regeneration, the skin’s pores get blocked. Normal bacteria that live on the skin feed on the dead skin cells and oil and make the skin flare up.

If the inflammation is only a moderate case, over-the-counter pimple products are sufficient for treatment. The active ingredients in these products include salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. These products can dry out the skin and should be followed up with a high quality moisturizer to avoid flaking and peeling of the skin.

For severe acne, don’t hesitate to take your teenage daughter to see a dermatologist. New acne products are being developed all the time that can be far more effective than over the counter acne medications for healing acne and cystic acne. A good skin doctor will consider the patient’s physical, emotional, and social well-being and will prescribe effective treatment. A medical specialist will also be aware of any related health problems that might effect a teenager’s complexion. Taking your teen to a doctor will show her that you take her problem seriously and are willing to do whatever it takes to help her solve it.

Cystic acne is a severe skin condition marked by inflammation and large, deep pimples just below the surface of the skin. Because the pimples are buried beneath the skin in cysts, the condition is called cystic. Nodulocystic acne pimples are hard nodules, rather than the soft, liquid-filled pimples that characterize the cystic type. Nodulocystic acne is sometimes called nodular acne, but the term cystic acne is often applied to both conditions. Both nodules and cysts can be very painful and may take a long time to heal.

Anyone can get cystic pimples. Adolescent boys are the mostly likely candidates for the condition. There seems to be a genetic component to pimples in general, and the cystic type in particular. You are more likely to get severe acne if your parents also had it when they were teenagers.

The causes of cystic acne are no different than any other type of acne. You need a proliferation of bacteria on your skin that cause acne, in combination with the overproduction of skin oil commonly found in teenagers. Add in the sloughing off of skin cells within the pore, and you have the perfect recipe for a severe acne condition.
Cystic pimples are caused by the same factors as other the forms, which are:

Acne pimples become inflamed when the wall of the pore breaks and leaks liquid containing bacteria into the tissue of the skin. If the pore ruptures near the surface of your skin, the pimple will heal within a few days. However, if the rupture is deeper within the pore, the infected liquid will spill into the deep tissue and become infected under the skin’s surface. Nodules and cysts sprout and grow as the contamination spreads into adjoining pores. If a membrane grows up around the fluid, then the growth will retain a soft, spongy feel and will become a cystic pimple.

The really bad thing about the condition is that because it occurs so deep within the skin tissue, the danger of scarring is great. Do not pick at or pop cystic or nodular acne. In order to release the fluid in the cyst, you have to destroy a lot of skin to get to it. The skin on your face is delicate and doesn’t heal from this type of destruction without scars.

Despite the myths surrounding the condition, you can’t get cystic pimples from poor diet or not washing your face. You are not to blame for your skin problems. Severe acne can be devastating to your self-esteem. You may avoid social interaction, and feel badly about yourself, because of your skin, and you may suffer from depression. You need to talk with your doctor if you find that your pimples are hurting your self-esteem. There are treatments available to reduce the effects, and your confidence will increase as your skin clears up.

Cystic pimples are treatable, but it’s also challenge, and you’ll need to practice patience while in the early stages of treatment. Different patients respond differently to the variety of drugs available, so there’s an element of trial and error as you work with your dermatologist to find the best one for you.

Not everything people tell you about pimples is true. Read this and see how many false stories about acne you’ve been told.

First Myth: Poor hygiene habits are responsible for my pimples. FALSE.
This isn’t a harmless myth, because people who believe it will spend hours of their lives washing their skin, which can actually make their skin worse. Dirt and oil on your skin’s surface do not cause pimples, and all that scrubbing will irritate your skin and make it more prone to breaking out. Follow a reasonable regimen of skin care by using a mild soap to wash your face twice a day. Don’t scrub and don’t rub it hard with a towel to dry it. Instead, pat it dry, and afterward apply a recommended skin medication.

Second Myth: Pimples are caused by stress. FALSE.
Although your hormones are affected by stress, they can’t cancel out the effects of a quality pimple product. The only possible exception is some antidepressant medications may cause pimples. So don’t stress out over stress causing your acne. Put your energy into finding ways to treat it.

Third Myth: Your pimples are the result of your poor dietary habits. FALSE.
There is no scientific literature that conclusively proves a dietary connection to acne. That includes foods traditionally thought of as provoking acne like pizza, fried foods, and chocolate. It’s true that you might have a food allergy that aggravates your pimples. If this is true, avoid those foods. And there are other good reasons to eat a healthy diet. But don’t keep tinkering with your diet and expect your pimples to go away as a result.

Fourth Myth: Sunbathing is good for acne. FALSE.
You should only get enough sun on your skin to replenish your vitamin D levels. Recent studies have recommended 10 to 30 minutes per day depending on whether you have fair or dark skin. Anything more may damage your skin. It may even cause irritation which will make your pimples worse. Although you might see temporary improvement if you get a sunburn (because sunburn and acne are both red), your skin will probably respond to sun damage by breaking out even more. So don’t be afraid to go out in the sun, but limit your exposure to safe levels.

Fifth Myth: There’s nothing you can do to make your pimples go away. FALSE.
Although there’s no true cure for acne, there are many products available that will greatly improve it. If you’ve been using over-the-counter acne products and they aren’t working for you, a dermatologist is the next step. There are some powerful prescription medications out there that can make your life easier and give you a better chance at preventing acne scars.
